MV Accredited Flocks

A flock can become MV accredited when it passes two qualifying blood tests between 6 and 12 months apart, and has certification from a vet that the holding can comply with scheme rules.  After accreditation, periodic testing is required, usually every two years, and the member is issued with certificates of status for selling or moving.

MV Monitored Flocks

"MV monitored" refers to a voluntary scheme for monitoring Maedi Visna (MV) in sheep flocks. This scheme allows farmers to demonstrate they have carried out an annual targeted screening of their flock for MV, providing buyers with a level of assurance. It's a lower tier scheme than MV accreditation
