KENDAL BRANCH REPORT 2006
It just seems like yesterday, but after three years I'm writing my final report as Chairman of
Kendal branch.
In June Kendal teamed up with Kirkby Stephen attending the Royal Cornwall Show. Kirkby Stephen
provided some excellent hoggs and lambs. Many thanks to Eden Farm Supplies who supplied the much needed hurdles,
which a woman took a fancy to and with a quick phone call to Brough we made a sale. Is this a first for Geoff
Tunstall selling equipment to Cornwall? I've always said he could sell snow to Eskimos.
In August Kendal branch members attended Sheep 2006 to promote the Mule on the North West Auction
Stand. Thank you to T Ayrton and Sons for providing four excellent mule gimmer lambs. There seemed to be a bit of
interest on the day. The main question was the price of ewe lambs.
A week later Kendal branch attended Camelford and Okehampton Shows on our annual PR trip. We met
a few new prospective buyers and renewed old acquaintances. In Devon and Cornwall grass had been in short supply
but was starting to green up in places. They had not had the rainfall we had had in the north.
Kendal Nemsa Sale this year was on Saturday 9th September. This year 7012 lambs forward at an
average price of £53.48 down £1.63 on 2005. A special thank you to our judges Mr J Barker and Mr A Geary who made
the following awards:

Finally may I take this opportunity of thanking North West Auction Ltd and their staff who assisted
on the day of our sale. Also Harry Gilles our secretary and branch members who have given up their time to promote
the Mule at shows throughout the last three years.
